“Trump Assassination Attempt” T-Shirts Sell Out Quickly

Chinese vendors wasted no time in launching t-shirts featuring images of former U.S. President Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
During a campaign rally on July 13, a shooting incident occurred involving Donald Trump. AP News captured a moment of Trump raising his fist, with blood trickling from one ear.
Less than three hours later, the first batch of t-shirts with this iconic image appeared on China’s e-commerce platform Taobao, according to SCMP.

Li Jinwei, a 25-year-old seller on Taobao, promptly posted the t-shirt design on one of China’s largest shopping platforms.
“We listed the t-shirts on Taobao as soon as the news about the shooting broke on social media and news outlets. It was a bold move since we hadn’t even printed any shirts yet. Within three hours, we received over 2,000 orders from both China and the U.S.,” Li said.
Li’s factory, located in Hebei, China, quickly produced the new product by downloading and printing the image. The factory takes about one minute to complete one t-shirt.
“During this year’s U.S. presidential election, we are producing various Trump-themed souvenirs. We believe he has a strong chance of winning. Chinese social media users also have a particular fondness for him,” Li added.
The Election T-Shirt Industry
Allen Yao, co-founder of Xinflying Digital Printing Production based in Guangdong, China, noted that the demand for election-themed t-shirts in the U.S. market is substantial.
Earlier this year, Yao capitalized on the trend by opening an automated factory in California, capable of producing around 3,000 t-shirts per day. The total production capacity is expected to rise to 8,000 shirts next month.
“These t-shirts are imported from Vietnam, stored in U.S. warehouses, and printed at a rapid pace,” Yao explained.
A digital printer can produce approximately eight election-related t-shirts per hour. These shirts quickly appear on store shelves in California.
“Demand is soaring. We can’t keep up with production,” Yao remarked.
The company plans to open a new factory on the U.S. East Coast next year, increasing production to 30,000 items per day.
